Similar to the heptathlon/decathlon events in Athletics, the Omnium includes six different disciplines and is an Olympic event for both men and women. A number of Nelson riders made the effort to travel across which made for some competitive racing during the day. Riders were graded from A to C and competed with each other within those grades. Race manager Lance Spencer was thrilled with the entry numbers and the tight racing over the six events.
The sixth round of the BikeFit Marlborough Summer Road Series was raced on Tuesday evening with a return to the Lower Wairau circuit for the graded road racing event.
