On Tuesday evening Cuddon Cycling Marlborough the 2nd race in the Bikefit Summer Night Series was held on the Lower Wairau circuit. After the time trail of last week, this was the 1st kermesse style race, with the winner decided on the basis of points to be gained at each passing of the finish line. This different style of racing changes the race dynamics, with the riders being tested every lap.
On Tuesday evening Cuddon Cycling Marlborough started with the Bikefit Summer Night Series races. 1st up was a time trial on the familiar 16km out and back course along New Renwick road, with a good turnout of 16 riders despite the not ideal weather. Established time trial specialist Ray Dunstan did not disappoint and with 21m53s recorded the fastest time of the night
The 14th and last race of the Cuddon Cycling Marlborough winter / spring series was held
last Saturday on the Northbank Road. The Henderson Bros and Dooley Cups were up for
grabs in time trial races over 51km (30 miles) and 16km (10 miles).
A small field of riders competed last Saturday in race 13 of the Cuddon
Cycling Marlborough winter / spring series in mild but windy conditions.
Back by popular demand, the tough Taylor Pass road out and back course was
utilised for a distance of 45km.
