Bikefit Summer Night Series Race 4 (TT)
The 4th race, a time trial, of the Bikefit Summer Night Series races was held by Cuddon Cycling Marlborough on Tuesday evening in warm but quite windy conditions. A good field of 23 riders presented themselves for the test against the clock over 16km on the New Renwick Rd. course.
Despite the wind all riders recorded slightly faster times than 3 weeks ago, and a close battle was fought for the top placing between Jeremy McKenzie and Ray Dunstan. Both being very strong time-trial riders ensured a tight finish, with McKenzie coming out on top with an 8 second advantage over Dunstan. Ethan Batt continued his good form by grabbing 3rd place, only 19sec further back.
Gerard van Antwerpen, Martin Fletcher and Niels van Antwerpen were about 1m30s back, all three close together with only 18 sec between them. Further down the field a couple of equal finishes showed the small differences between the riders. It was pleasing to see 9 junior riders in the field, all staying completing the course within the 30 min mark.
