Junior rider Lucy Trollope took four wins from four starts on the track last Thursday evening (13th of November) at Athletic Park during round 5 of The Honey Company Track Cycling Series. The programme included a 500m rolling start, points race, handicap race and scratch race for each of the grades A to C on the night.
Trollope was pushed hard in each C grade event by Brittany Lucas who held on for second in all three events, and a spirited ride by Jacob Crossley taking second place in the four lap handicap.
Robin Mortimer who is in his first season of track chalked up a well earnt third placing in the B grade 500m rolling start, but again Shaun Woods was strong in the B grade events taking three wins and a second placing. A return to the track for Duncan Mackenzie netted him a win and two second placings.
Gerard van Antwerpen took out the A grade points race over 10 laps and the 8000m scratch race to show that his form is as strong as usual in this early part of the season. Callum Caughey took out the 500m rolling start event and finished runner up to van Antwerpen in the 8000m scratch race. Matt Straker made the most of his handicap to take the 8 lap handicap event from Zac Mortimer and Kim Marshall. Marshall performed well throughout the evenings events and highlighted her abilities against her male competitors.
