The results were well spread around on the track last Thursday evening at Athletic Park during round 6 of The Honey Company Track Cycling Series. An exciting programme included a 500m derby event (with heats run in grades A and B), an elimination race, handicap race and scratch race for each of the grades A to C on the night.
New track rider Dave Mckay found his feet quickly and took a win in the C grade 500 metre derby and a second in the 2000m scratch race. Lucy Trollope continued her good form with two wins, a second, and a third. Sam Spencer showing some good improvement taking a first, a second, and two third placings.
In the B grade, young riders Sam Morgan and Katie Batt claimed some good results during the evening along with Liv Bishop and Tom Trollope. Duncan Mackenzie claimed two wins and a second and promoted himself up into the A grade to compete well in the 8000 metre scratch event.
In the A grade, Zac Mortimer claimed a first in the 8 lap handicap following a great ride and a second in the 8000 metre scratch race. Ethan Batt took a first in the elimination race and a second in the 500 metre derby. Callum Caughey was too quick over the 500 metre derby distance and claimed that 1st placing along with a third in the elimination race. Masters rider Gerard van Antwerpen won the 8000 metre scratch event and took third in the 8 lap handicap.
