Hall Doesn’t Hesitate

Warren Hall was a confident winner as he sprinted in his co-markers in Cuddon Cycling Marlborough’s open grade event at Fairhall on Saturday afternoon.
The open grade 57km handicap event covered 3 laps of the Benmorven, Ridge Resort, Godfreys Road circuit, starting and finishing at Fairhall hall. The warm and windy conditions played into the hands of the groups that stayed intact. The 7 strong 14 minute group worked as a team and hit the front on the second lap, never to be headed. With a head wind finish and a short sprint Hall’s finish was just to quick as he headed off Mike McManaway and Graham Henderson in the minor placings just ahead of Rhonda Murphy, Richard Hill, Mary Lister and Frank Marfell.
Fastest time went to young scratch rider Ethan Roach when he headed off co-markers Gerard van Antwerpen, Chris Heywood and Ray Dunstan in the sprint to the line.
The junior under 17 grade competed in a mass start event covering 1 lap of the open course (19km). The top 3 riders stayed together with Will Hart taking line honours from Quinn Karwowski and Leatham Landon-Lane. The sealed handicap went to Landon-Lane from Karwowski with Piers Landon-Lane in third place.
