Close Track Racing

Good fields and close racing was the highlight of Cuddon Cycling Marlborough’s track cycling meeting at Athletic Park last Monday evening.
The wins and placings were spread around with junior under 17 rider Quinn Karwowski making his mark on the opening event with a good tactical win in the open 1000m scratch event. The open ‘miss and out’ event saw Conway Taylor score a decisive win and then went on to take the final of the one lap rolling start event. Gerard van Antwerpen was consistent with a second and third placing leading up to a good victory in the open 8000m scratch event. Ray Dunstan also showed good form with two second placings and a third placing over the night.
At opening night the previous week Karwowski was a comfortable winner in all three events.
