Van Antwerpen/McKenzie Repeat Geddes Cup Win

The strong combination of Gerard van Antwerpen and Jeremy McKenzie repeated last years performance to retain Cuddon Cycling Marlborough’s Geddes Memorial Cup two-up time trial event at Renwick on Saturday afternoon.
The 40km open grade event drew a small field with riders encountering good conditions on the outward journey with a stiff head wind home. The van Antwerpen/McKenzie pair recorded a good time outward (27m 25s) to finish on 58m 33s even though the course was slightly longer than usual. The minor placings went to Martin Fletcher/Brent Ackroyd (62m 23s) and Dave Grono/Graham Henderson (66m 49s). The sealed handicap cup was won by the Mike McManaway/Rene de Ruiter pair by 59s from Fletcher/Ackroyd with another 9s back to Rhonda Murphy/Craig Murphy in third place.
