Brodie Catterick & Larry Kendall Take TT Cups

Brodie Catterick was in good form to convincingly win the Vincent Cup in Cuddon Cycling Marlborough’s Fairweathers Winter series event at Renwick on Saturday afternoon. The open grade 40km time trial covered a course on the Waihopai Valley Road from Grove Mill Winery to just beyond Craiglochart and return. In quite
favourable conditions Catterick went to the turn in 31m 05s to be 40sec up
on Ray Dunstan and a further 1m 09s back to Gerard van Antwerpen. The
tailwind return trip saw Catterick increase his lead out to 2m 15s for a fine win in 56m 40s. Dunstan (58m 55s) and Van Antwerpen (60m 25s) took the minor placings. The sealed handicap for the Verhey Trophy saw several riders in contention at the turn for home. Last weeks winner Larry Kendall persevered with a strong ride home to take the trophy by 1m 03s to Rhonda Murphy with another 30sec back to Dave Hutchison in third place.
