Southern Tour

Each year our club hosts the Southern Tour on behalf of Cycling New Zealand Schools. It is held over the first weekend of the Winter Sports Tournament and so is usually the last weekend in August.  Cuddon Cycling Marlborough looks forward to hosting junior road cyclists from throughout the country.

Held at some outstanding locations in Seddon with racing in and around some iconic vineyards, you will not want to miss this.

Official information about the event is available on the CNZ Schools Events page.

We cater for all abilities, so if you would like to have a try riding a tour then read on!

Who can enter?

We have events to suit all strengths, across many age categories and cater for a huge range of abilities. Test yourself against your mates, your peers or the clock at this outstanding event.

We get a wide range of ability at this tour, some of the older riders are very good, they may be national champions, or even have competed at events such as the Junior Worlds.  But there are others who are relatively new to the sport or who have cycling as one of several sports that they are involved with too.

Riders need to be enrolled in year 7 or above and we have grades for U20, U17, U16, U15, U14 and U13 for both female and male competitors.

We would love to see more local riders come and give this a go and will be having training sessions each week. If you would like to hear from our development officer then please contact us by email with your name and a contact phone number and they will get back to you .

Training for the Tour

Andrew Jamieson from Fitlab  has created a twelve week training programme for any cyclists who need some guidance for getting themselves fit for the tour. If you click on the link it will ask if you want to make a copy, that way you will have your own version and no one else using the programme can make any changes to it.

Check back here regularly and we will upload additional advice about tour riding as the event draws closer.
